PROJECTS

Our ‘Friends of’ groups are always hard at work improving the biodiversity and ecology of Maidenhead’s outdoor spaces. There are currently three projects in full flow, and we are always looking out for new volunteers to join in and lend a helping hand.

Friends of Oaken Grove

We are maintaining two “no mow” wildflower beds and an Orchard in Oaken Grove Park which we hope will bring seasonal interest and hope for insects in a dense urban environment. Meetings are arranged via Meetup through Wild Maidenhead membership emails or links on our facebook group.

Access to the Park is from either Courthouse Road, Ashcroft Road or Oaken Grove.

One wheelchair friendly path through the park.

A café and toilets may be open on an ad hoc basis.

There is car parking off Courthouse Road (what3words ///wonderfully.item.hosts)   and Oaken Grove (what3words ///locals.brand.summer).

Friends of Ray Mill Island

Our mission here is to restore Ray Mill Island, put the wildlife first and encourage bio-diversity.  There are good wildlife spotting opportunities around the Island (kingfisher if you are lucky) with mature trees and wild flower areas as well as excellent views of the Thames.

Activities are run every month and booking is via the FRMI website www.raymillisland.org

Paths are generally wheelchair friendly around the island.

There are toilets and a café.

Parking is in Boulter’s Lock public carpark. The What3words address of the carpark is ///Cherry.spared.drape
